Bulletin20180325 – Palm Sunday

The holiest time in the Church’s calendar is the Paschal Triduum. It is the period of three days that begins with the liturgy on the evening of Maundy Thursday (Holy Thursday) and ends with evening prayer (vespers) on Easter Sunday. This period recalls the passion, death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
Holy Thursday – No other mass apart from the Chrism Mass and the Mass of the Lord’s Supper is to be celebrated on this day. This commemorates the Last Supper.
Good Friday is the only day in the year where there is no mass as what is being commemorated is the Lord’s Passion.
Holy Saturday – there are no other liturgical services before the Easter Vigil. But it is recommended to pray the Office of Readings as a community.
Easter Vigil – The rubrics of the Missale Romanum remind us that this “mother of all vigils” is the “greatest and most noble of all solemnities and it is to be unique in every single Church” ( Missale Romanum, “Rubrics for the Easter Vigil” (EV), no.2). On this holy night, the Church keeps watch, celebrating the resurrection of Christ in the sacraments and awaiting his return in glory.  It is on this night that the Elect would be initiated into the Church through the Sacraments of Initiation.
The Easter Triduum concludes with evening prayer (vespers) on Easter Sunday. There is no mass but in our parish we will have sung solemn vespers.
